Mobility & Release
Ivo Hofland
What it's like
Slow and methodical. You'll spend time on massage balls and props working into specific areas, move through mobility drills that take joints through their full range, and hold some yoga shapes a little longer than usual. Functional strength work is folded in. Nothing heavy, but enough to make the new range stick. Transitions are unhurried and everything is breath-led. You'll leave feeling longer and looser rather than worked.

Why people practice this?
Joint health is the long game. Mobility work keeps range available rather than slowly losing it, and the difference shows up in your forties and fifties rather than next week. The immediate draw is relief. Myofascial release with balls reaches tightness that stretching alone doesn't touch, particularly through hips, shoulders and feet. What separates this from a pure stretch class is the strength element, range you can't control isn't much use, so the class builds a little capacity into the range it opens.
Is this for you?
You'll get on with Mobility & Release if you:
• Train hard elsewhere and neglect this half
• Have specific stiff spots that never quite resolve
• Are coming back from injury and need something safe
• Want to still move well in twenty years
No experience needed. This is one of the most beginner-friendly classes on the schedule.

Questions people ask
Is this physiotherapy?
No, it's movement teaching rather than treatment. See a physio for anything specific.
Do I need an injury?
No. Most people come to move better, not because something is wrong.
Can I come injured?
Often yes, but tell your teacher first so they can adjust.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Every pose is adjusted with props. Flexibility is an outcome, not a requirement.
Isn't it just stretching?
No. Stretching targets muscle. Yin relaxes it so the load reaches connective tissue.
Do I need a mat?
No. Mats and props are provided. Bring your own if you prefer.
How do I book?
yourtribes.nl/schedule or through the Fit by Wix app, code NCL5XG. You'll need a pass or card first.
