Gyrokinesis

A method of its own, built on spirals and waves rather than poses. Works the spine in every direction it was designed to move.

Gyrokinesis® Movement

What it's like

You'll work on a mat, seated on a stool, and standing, the method moves between all three. Sequences are rhythmic and flowing, each movement paired with a specific breath, building from small spinal motions into larger coordinated patterns. Nothing is held. Where yoga stops in a shape, Gyrokinesis keeps moving through it, so the hour has an unbroken quality more like swimming than stretching. The method is genuinely adaptable, the stool work means you can do a full practice without getting to the floor, and every movement scales.

Why people practice this?

Most movement happens on one plane, forwards, or up and down. Gyrokinesis works in circles and spirals, which is closer to how the spine is actually built, and people notice the difference in how their back feels within a few weeks. Decompression is the practical benefit. Sustained rhythmic movement creates length through the spine and eases the compression that builds from sitting, driving, carrying. It also does something less obvious to coordination. Because the sequences are continuous and breath-led rather than counted, the nervous system gets involved in a way that sharpens body awareness well beyond the class.

Is this for you?

You'll get on with Gyrokinesis if you:
• Have a back that complains after long days at a desk
• Want mobility work that doesn't feel like stretching
• Are curious about a method rather than a workout
• Need something that adapts around an injury or a stiff morning Never heard of it? That's normal. It's rare in the Netherlands. All levels genuinely means all levels here.

Questions people ask

Is this physiotherapy?

No, it's movement teaching rather than treatment. See a physio for anything specific.

Can I come injured?

Often yes, but tell your teacher first so they can adjust.

Do I need to be flexible?

No. Every pose is adjusted with props. Flexibility is an outcome, not a requirement.

Isn't it just stretching?

No. Stretching targets muscle. Yin relaxes it so the load reaches connective tissue.

Do I need experience?

No. Most classes are open to all levels and teachers give options.

Do I need a mat?

No. Mats and props are provided. Bring your own if you prefer.

How do I book?

Website or the Fit by Wix app, code NCL5XG. You'll need a pass or card first.
