Breath & Meditation

Ivo Hofland

What it's like

You'll be seated or lying down for the whole hour. The session moves through yogic breathing techniques. Some slow and lengthening, some more rhythmic, before settling into meditation and stillness. There is no physical practice to keep up with and nothing to learn in advance. You'll be guided the entire way. The room is quiet and low-lit. Expect to leave grounded and a little clearer than you came in.

Why people practice this?

Breath is the one automatic system you can take manual control of, which makes it the most direct route into the nervous system available without a prescription. The practical effect is a reset. Deliberate breathing shifts you out of the low-grade alert state that most people carry through a working day, and the change is usually noticeable within the first ten minutes. Over weeks, something else happens: the breath becomes an anchor you can reach for outside class, in traffic, before a difficult conversation, at 3am.

Is this for you?

You'll get on with Breath & Meditation if you:
• Think too much and can't find the off switch
• Want meditation but have never got it to stick alone
• Are curious about breathwork without a full ceremony
• Need something that asks nothing of your body

Never meditated? Good. Being guided in a room with other people is far easier than sitting alone with an app.

Questions people ask

Do I need to meditate already?

No. You're guided throughout, and a wandering mind is completely normal.

Can I come injured?

Often yes, but tell your teacher first so they can adjust.

Will I be bored?

Maybe at first. Most people find something shifts after two or three classes.

Do I need to be flexible?

No. Every pose is adjusted with props. Flexibility is an outcome, not a requirement.

Do I need experience?

No. Most classes are open to all levels and teachers give options.

What should I wear?

Anything you can move in. Classes are barefoot, and props are provided.

Do I need a mat?

No. Mats and props are provided. Bring your own if you prefer.

How do I book?

yourtribes.nl/schedule or through the Fit by Wix app, code NCL5XG. You'll need a pass or card first.
