For me this is a weekend with the people I've practised with for three and a half years. I'm moving in 2027, and this retreat is my way of saying goodbye.
Karen van Buitenen
Three days with the noise turned off
Inward is about stripping away what's external and coming back to centre, building a steady, grounded energy through intelligent practice. Nothing to do but practise, walk, eat and rest. Fifteen places, one house, one teacher. No level you need to be at.

What's in the weekend
Four long practices
Physical practice, pranayama, mantra and meditation, woven together rather than kept apart.
Yoga Nidra
Guided, after each evening practice. You go to bed already halfway asleep.
Quiet mornings
Deliberately unfilled. Finding out what quiet does for you is part of the point.
Walks
Through the coulisse landscape around the farm, whenever you feel like it.
How the days go
A rhythm rather than a timetable. Times shift with the group and the weather.

Sauna and cold plunge
There's a sauna, and a swimming pond in the garden. February makes it interesting.
Plant-based food
Cooked on site, with hot drinks all day. Dietary wishes catered for.
A fire
Two of them, actually. One in the living room, one in the small studio.
€
450
A room to yourself. Limited — there are only a handful.
€
350
Shared room, two people. Tell us who you'd like to share with, or we'll match you.
Both prices include three days of teaching, all meals and drinks, your room, linen and towels, and the sauna. Everything except getting there. VAT included.
The house
Hof van Kairos is a farmhouse from 1851 near Winterswijk, opened as a retreat centre in 2026. For our weekend the whole place is ours, no other groups, no passing guests. Kairos means the right moment. Not clock time, but the moment you stop running and are present again.

The studio
115 m², daylight on three sides, facing the sunrise. Underfloor heating, sound system, and mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets provided.
A second room
75 m² with a wood stove and doors onto its own terrace.
Living room
Sunny, with a fireplace and a reading table looking onto the garden.
Outside
Almost a hectare of garden, full of fruit trees, with a swimming pond. Deer walk past the studio windows.
Bathrooms
Six separate showers across two bathrooms, and toilets throughout.
Electric cars
Two charging points on site.
Practical
Getting there
Vosseveldseweg 17, Winterswijk — about two hours from Leiden by car. Public transport isn't realistic, so we set up a WhatsApp group for carpooling once you've booked.
Language
The whole weekend is taught in English.
Level
Any. Sessions are long but not hard, and everything can be adapted.
Food
Plant-based, cooked on site. Tell us about allergies and dietary wishes when you book.
What to bring
Warm layers, walking shoes, swimwear for the sauna and pond, a torch, and something to write in. Mats and props are there.
Arriving and leaving
From 16:00 on Friday. We finish after lunch on Sunday, around 14:00.
Your teacher(s)

Karen van Buitenen
Seeker • Mama • Activist
Karen has taught vinyasa, alignment and slow flow at Tribes for three and a half years, the early Monday flows, the Wednesday Detox, the classes in Wassenaar. She teaches with precision and without ceremony.
In 2027 she's moving away. Inward is the last weekend she'll teach here, and she'd like it to be with the people who've been in the room all along.
