What to expect

We move mandala style, turning through all four corners of the mat in circles rather than straight lines, so you are facing somewhere new every few breaths and the room stops being a fixed reference. The balance work sits inside that. Standing poses on one foot, some held, some arriving while you are still turning, so you use the momentum and catch your balance instead of setting it up.

Balance here is something your body keeps re-finding as we change where we stand in the field of gravity. Then we close the eyes for a few waves of asana, to see how much of your steadiness was coming from the room, and how much you can find from your own centre instead.

"Seven years at Tribes. Taught, trained teachers, built the website, twice, helped with the marketing. None of it was planned, and I could not tell you where one thing ended and the next began. Its own kind of mandala, facing a new direction every year or so, never in a straight line. Balance works like that off the mat too. You keep finding it by coming back to the middle. Mine has not moved. It is still teaching."

What you'll take away

• Balance that holds while you are moving, which is the kind that actually catches you
• A sense of how much of your steadiness comes from your eyes, and what is left when they close
• A clearer feel for where your weight sits and where it is going

Some vinyasa experience helps. Everything has a stage before it, and you are welcome to stay there. The lifted foot can keep a toe on the floor, and the eyes stay open if you want them open. Bare feet, nothing to bring.

How to book

For our 10-year anniversary, we’re hosting a weekend of beautiful, specially created classes, with a few surprises along the way to thank you for being part of Tribes.

Book as you would any other open class, using your membership, class card or pass. Spots are limited, so book early!

Please be mindful when booking: for this weekend only, we’re using a 12-hour cancellation window. You can cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before your special starts. If you can’t join us, cancelling in time gives someone on the waiting list enough notice to take your place and helps us avoid empty spots. A €7.50 fee applies to late cancellations and no-shows.

All classes have a waiting list. If a spot becomes available, you’ll receive a message and have 60 minutes to claim it.

Teaching movement is my excuse to keep learning. It lets me master new techniques and evolve alongside my students. It is multidimensional, taking in philosophy, self-development, anatomy and energetics. That richness allows endless exploration, and the exploring is what excites me.
