What it's like
Classes open with a dynamic warm-up built around core strength and flexibility, because you'll need both. Then into choreography that plays to what heels make possible: long lines, sharp weight shifts, deliberate slowness. Expect emphasis on owning each step rather than just executing it. Full-out is the default. Heels are required and outdoor shoes aren't allowed, check with us which studio your course runs in, as not every floor takes them.

Why people practice this?
Confidence is the honest answer. Something changes when you dance in heels, and people who take this class talk about it long after they've stopped. There's real technique underneath. Balancing, controlling weight and moving cleanly in heels demands ankle strength, core stability and precision that flat shoes let you fake. Showmanship gets trained too, projection, attitude, holding an audience. Skills that transfer well beyond the studio.
Is this for you?
You'll get on with Heels if you:
• Want to build confidence as much as technique
• Like bold, expressive, unapologetic movement
• Have some dance experience and want a new challenge
• Have always been curious and never quite dared Intermediate and advanced groups. A dance background helps here, heels add difficulty to everything.

Questions people ask
What does 'some experience' mean?
You know the basics and can follow a sequence without every cue explained. Not advanced, just not brand new.
Do I need special shoes?
Mostly no. Bare feet, socks or trainers are fine. Ballet is easier in soft shoes.
Am I too old?
No. Our beginners groups run from twenties to sixties, and most people are starting from nothing.
Do I have to wear heels?
No. Many people start in trainers or bare feet. Heels are something you add when you're ready.
Can I try first?
Yes, at the Trial Dance Weekend just before each season, €7.50 a class. For drop-in classes, the Trial Week is €19.95.
How do I book a course?
On the website, at yourtribes.nl/courses. Your spot is then secured for the full course.
New to dance?
Yes. Every style has a beginners group, and each course states its level. Email discover@yourtribes.nl if you're unsure.
Coming on my own?
Plenty of people do. No pressure to socialise, connection happens over time.
