Workshop

Somatics & Yoga: the art of yielding

DAY

Nov. 28th

TIME

19:00-21:00

ADDRESS

Floris Versterlaan 61, Leiden

When we yield, we soften into the support beneath us. Yielding invites us into felt sense—a direct, intuitive bodily awareness of our experience in the moment. By intentionally bringing attention to subtle sensations as they arise, we gain deeper insight and allow intense emotions or situations to become more tolerable and manageable. In this way, the body and mind begin to speak the same language.

Through yielding, space opens for new meaning and gentle release, a sense of “giving” within the system. It is less about doing and more about listening: attuning to breath, gravity, and the quiet intelligence of the body that knows how to restore balance when given the chance.

In this workshop we will:
- explore how the ribcage, diaphragm, fascia, and nervous system hold tension, and how they can open, soften, and re-align.
- practice somatic movement that feels like a dialogue—between body and ground, between breath and tissue, between effort and ease.
- use mindful breathwork to integrate letting go: yielding stances, restorative shapes, breath pauses that thread into stillness.
- create a space for rest, for noticing what arises. What do we carry? What do we hold with grip? And what happens when that grip dissolves?

By the end, you’ll have touched a gentler way of being in your body. Where letting go is as powerful as doing, where yield opens path to deeper breathing, deeper presence, deeper self-trust.
